In Case of An Accident
As you are aware an auto accident is upsetting, maddening and sometimes unavoidable. We have developed this handy guide to remind you of the steps you should follow in case you have another unfortunate accident. police
• Stay Calm
Determine the extent of injuries and/or damage. If needed, obtain medical assistance.
• Move To Safety
Check your surroundings. If vehicle is drivable move it to a safe area.
• Notify the Police
Contact the police if damage is more than a scratch, ding or dent; especially if you're dealing with substantial damage or anyone is injured.
Get information from the police officer:
• Name
• Badge or ID number
• Phone number
• Police report number
• Ask the police for a copy of the accident report.
• Exchange Information
Collect the descriptions and specific damages to all vehicles.
The most important information includes:
• Full name and contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address)
• Insurance company, Insurance policy Number
• License plate number
• Make, Model and Year of vehicle
• Location of accident
• Full names and phone numbers of any witnesses
• Take photos, if you can:
• Damage to your vehicle
• Accident location
• People involved with the accident
• Notify Your Insurance Agent
Send your Insurance Agent copies of any letters, notices or legal papers you receive about the accident.
• Watch What You Say
You should avoid discussing fault when going over the facts with the other driver. Also, do not sign any statements or promise to pay for any damages.
• Get the names of witnesses and anyone with injuries
• Take Detailed Notes
Draw a diagram showing the cars' positions, or if you have a camera, take photos. When you get home, contact your body shop of choice, and they will suggest what's BEST FOR YOU!
Should your vehicle have to be towed from the scene of the accident know you have the right to select the Auto Body Shop to which it should be towed.
